ABSTRACT
The research stresses on the impact of IT in materials management. The efficient management of materials with IT partly accounts for high productivity.

The report is divided into five sections. The first section deals with the background of the study in which the researcher elaborated on the basis and significance of the impact of IT in materials management as a core responsibility to the objectives of the organization. The main objective is to determine the extent to which information technology has enhanced the management of materials in the organization, the research question that guided the researcher is what extent have information technology enhanced the management of materials?

The second part represents the views expressed by various authors with respect to information technology on materials management. The researcher looks at the numerous views or definitions of information technology and materials management. The researcher goes on to discuss the impact of IT in materials management, which include enhancing IT system of management with management information system, benefits with IT system of materials management, disadvantages of IT systems of materials management, electronic data interchange in materials management, computers and stock control in materials management and storage in materials management.

The methodology employed in the final analysis includes questionnaires. The information gathered were analyzed using Microsoft excel and word.

This section describes the methods, procedures and techniques employed in an attempt to discover reliable information or data relating to the topic selected and basically looking at short history of ECG.

The fourth part deals with the presentation of analysis and discussion of the data collected. Finally, this chapter concentrates on the summary of findings, conclusion and recommendation. The findings were derived from the questionnaires answered by the respondents.
